Balloon Sinuplasty
Endoscopic Balloon Sinus Dilation (Balloon Sinuplasty):
Sinus congestion, sinus pain, sinus headaches, mucous drainage in throat (postnasal drip), runny nose, nasal congestion, difficulty breathing through nose, and reduced or lost sense of smell and taste are all symptoms that could be caused by sinusitis / sinus inflammation.
Endoscopic Balloon Sinus Dilation (Balloon Sinuplasty) is an FDA approved treatment for sinusitis. This procedure can be done in clinic and without the need for general anesthesia or a trip to the hospital.
Utilizing a tiny endoscopic camera, a special miniature balloon is guided to the natural sinus openings. The balloon then opens up these natural passages. No tissue is cut or removed during the procedure. Enlarging the sinus openings can allow these sinuses to function normally again and may also improve delivery of intranasal medications.
Endoscopic Balloon Sinus Dilation (Balloon Sinuplasty) is even more minimally invasive than traditional endoscopic sinus surgery. There is little to no recovery time and most patients can return to normal activity and work the next day. Patients typically experience little to no discomfort during and after the procedure.
Numerous studies have shown Endoscopic Balloon Sinus Dilation to be safe, effective, and to provide lasting improvement for sinusitis and sinus symptoms.
